Thank you for supporting the future of St. Peter Parish and School!
Why do we need a capital campaign? For many years, parish leaders at St. Peter have recognized challenges posed by aging facilities. In 2021, discussions began to identify the specific needs of our campus and facilities. Working with parish leaders and the Property and Buildings Committee, a master planning process was launched to address concerns.
What role did the parish community play in shaping the updated plan? After the initial plan was created, it was shared with the community for feedback. Listening sessions and a feasibility study helped refine the plan, ensuring alignment with community priorities.
What is the revamped plan? What are our current goals? The updated master plan includes two phases:
Phase 1 ($7 million): Renovation of parish offices, school building improvements (e.g., HVAC upgrades, safety updates), and relocation of the priests’ residence.
Phase 2: Construction of a new parish hall and additional infrastructure improvements.
Will the projects be completed in a specific order? The campaign will fully fund Phase 1 first. Updates on progress and timelines will be provided regularly.
How were we able to reduce the cost by so much? By scaling back to a one-story parish hall, eliminating a $20 million school addition, and purchasing an adjacent home for the priests’ residence instead of building a new one.
How will funds be raised? Through personal gifts, parish-wide contributions, and support from major donors.
I thought the plan was to close Jefferson Avenue? The proposal to close West Jefferson Avenue was declined by the City of Kirkwood after determining it would not sufficiently benefit the community.
What is the purpose of the capital campaign? The campaign supports crucial improvements to St. Peter Church and School, addressing facility needs and enhancing community spaces. Will we be kept informed about the campaign? Yes, updates will be shared regularly via Flocknote, the campaign website, and email. When should I make my gift to the campaign? In January, parish households will receive information packets with specific giving instructions. Who will be asked to support the effort? Every parishioner will be invited to contribute to the campaign’s success. What is the difference between a gift and a pledge?
A gift is a one-time immediate contribution.
A pledge is a commitment to donate a specific amount over the 3-year campaign, allowing flexible payment options.
How can I make a donation? Detailed instructions will be provided at the campaign launch. For early inquiries, contact the parish office. Who is leading the capital campaign? The campaign is led by parishioners Greg Dart, Tim Fagan, Tracie Jones, and Cheryl McCall, with support from The Steier Group and parish leadership. What is the timeline for the project? The campaign launches in January 2025. Construction timelines will follow the completion of fundraising efforts. Can I volunteer to help with the campaign? Yes! Contact the parish office to learn about volunteering opportunities in administration, events, or communications. What are the next steps? Finalizing project plans, recruiting volunteers, and launching the campaign. If I have more questions, who do I contact? Email: campaign@stpeterkirkwood.org

Playground reconstruction with improved drainage and new markings.
Restroom updates, including new fixtures and improved flooring.

Why were these projects selected? Feedback during listening sessions highlighted safety, modern facilities, and improved learning environments as top priorities. How will these updates affect enrollment? Demographic projections indicate steady enrollment. Updates will ensure facilities meet current and future educational needs. Is there anything in this campaign that creates additional learning space? Expanding learning spaces remains a long-term priority. Current efforts focus on immediate needs like safety and infrastructure.

Upgrade the HVAC system in the school building. The window units are noisy, distracting, and inefficient with temperature control. |
| Upgrade school restrooms to provide modern and accessible facilities. The school restrooms are outdated, with aging fixtures and limited accessibility. | ADA-compliant entrance to the gym/parish center. Access to parish and school events are challenging for those with mobility issues. |
What is going to happen with the current rectory? It will be retrofitted into additional office and meeting space for parish staff and ministries. What is going to happen to the staff that works in Ursuline Hall? Church staff members will relocate to newly renovated spaces, with improved workstations and meeting rooms. How will the new meeting spaces be used? For various meetings and ministries, including prayer groups, staff meetings, and ministry teams (e.g., ACTS).
Why did we need to make changes to the current rectory/parish offices? The current rectory was too small for all staff offices, and its use compromised the priests’ privacy. I thought we were trying to build a new rectory. Purchasing a nearby home was a more cost-effective solution that also expands the parish footprint. How much did the new rectory house cost, and how are we paying for it?
Purchase price: $1.25 million.
Funding includes a $125,000 down payment, a $1 million donation, and campaign funds for the remaining balance.
Why do we need a parish hall? A modern, flexible facility is needed to accommodate the growing needs of over 50 active ministries and parish events. What will happen to Ursuline Hall? It will be replaced with a more functional and modern space. Why not just renovate Ursuline Hall? Renovating would cost nearly as much as building new, while leaving an aging structure requiring further updates. What will we be able to do in the new hall that we aren’t able to do right now? The hall will host larger events and free up the gym for athletic programs, providing flexibility for ministries and school activities. What about parking? Lost parking spaces will be replaced with new spaces near the parish offices. What if we don’t raise all the money for the parish hall? Funds beyond Phase 1 will be set aside in a dedicated fund for the parish hall, and further options will be evaluated post-campaign.
